Emily Longo received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University and is a clinical fellow of AAMFT. Emily is licensed in the state of Connecticut and has experience working in intensive in-home services with children, adolescents, parents, and families and has experience working with individuals with a trauma history. Empathy, trust, and direct communication are important elements of successful therapeutic relationship which is how Emily has helped children, adolescents, and adults who are survivors of abuse find peace and healing.
Emily believes that problems lie outside of a person and exist in the interactions between that person, their family, and the enivornment. Also, in difficult times, everyone learns to communicate and cope in ways that meet a need, but that can sometimes lead to causing distress and more problems. The key is understanding the maladaptive coping mechanisms and communication patterns and then working together to co-construct new patterns that promote health and healing.
Emily is a certified trainer of the Risking Connection model of trauma-informed care and is a certified Brainspotting therapist.
Emily is at FCFT on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
